Painting with light

As part of my PhD research using forensic photographic techniques in a fine art context, I wanted to photograph my found objects with the art of painting with light. This is an incredible craft which can be done relatively simply, starting with still life objects on a table top and progressing to much larger objects using a few additional lights from torches, bike lights and even fairy lights from the Christmas tree! It takes a while to experiment with exposure times and identify just where you want your light to bring out the colour and texture of the object in order to create atmosphere and beauty not normally seen with the naked eye. Look out for my struggle opening the steamer trunk!
