East Coast

I decided to tour around the East Coast of Yorkshire via bike, setting off from my home town to Robin Hood’s Bay which was just under 80 miles away.

The weather was perfect all week and therefore plenty of opportunities to take infrared photos of various areas around Whitby, back through Scarborough, finishing up in Bridlington before the journey home. It is so much easier to take in the landscape when viewing by bike, rather than by car. It was also easier to get around and not have to worry about car parking spaces as the bikes fit anywhere and people were very accommodating, letting us lock up the bikes in the shops or in a secure area at the back of restaurants. There are too many images to choose from which were successful with regards to composition and detail, especially around Whitby Abbey, so I have selected one from RSPB at Bempton Cliffs, which I later discovered was an area of a disused RAF site. The concrete pillars punctuating the landscape, with a hawk sat on top and cows wandering in between made for an eerie area. The cows left a ghostly shadow as they slowly grazed their way through and I rather liked this in-between state they left.
